Word 3.0,3.1 - Fast Save - unless you tell it not to, Word does a Fast Save that leaves your changes at the end of the file. Changes are actually inserted into your file after they start to accumulate. Thus you have no way to know when a Fast Save or a real save is occurring. Even closing or quitting the file is no guarantee. To make sure you are doing a real save, do a Save As and turn off the Fast Save function If you don't want a second copy of your document, don't change the name and tell Word yes when it asks if it should replace the name of the document of the same name.
